PolyU alumni on the 2009 HKSAR Honours List

The following 10 PolyU graduates have been accorded awards or appointed Justices of the Peace by the HKSAR government in recognition of their outstanding professional achievements and services to the community. Congratulations!

Silver Bauhinia Star

Mr Cheung Hau-wai
(Surveying and Building Technology graduate)

Mr Cheung retired as the Director of Buildings after serving 40 years with the Government.

Mr Ho Kwong-wai
(Mechanical Engineering graduate)

Mr Ho retired as the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services after serving 36 years with the Government.

Mrs Li Li Ka-lai, Lucia
(Accountancy graduate)

Mrs Li retired as the Director of Accounting Services after serving 33 years with the Government.

Dr Yeung Hin-chung, John
(Structural Engineering, and Management Studies graduate)

In his capacity as the Chairman of the Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Advisory Committee, Dr Yeung has made valuable contribution to the provision of speedy financial assistance to road traffic accident victims.

Bronze Bauhinia Star

Mr Hui Shing-ngai, Raman
(Design graduate)

Mr Hui is honoured for his outstanding achievements in the digital entertainment sector, as well as his dedication in promoting the development of the digital entertainment and design industry in Hong Kong.

Dr Lau Chi-wang, James
(Structural Engineering graduate)

Dr Lau is honoured for his meritorious public and community service, particularly in Wong Tai Sin District.

Mr Ng Hang-kwong
(Surveying and  Building Technology graduate)

Mr Ng is honoured for his dedicated and meritorious service to the Government for over 37 years.  He retired as a Principal Government Land Agent of the Lands Department.

Medal of Honour

Mr Yu Kwok-lit, Louis(Computing Studies graduate)

Mr Yu is honoured for his valuable contribution to the development and promotion of culture and arts in Hong Kong.

In addition, two alumni have been appointed Justices of the Peace. They are Mr Liu Sing-cheong, a surveying graduate; and Mr Wong Chik-wing, a surveying graduate who also completed his MSc in International Real Estate at PolyU. Mr Liu is Managing Director of Pearl-River Hang Cheong Real Estate Consultants Ltd, while Mr Wong serves as Executive Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd.
