PolyU team won “Retail Futures Challenge” for second consecutive year

Students shine in international engineering design contest

Students of PolyU’s Institute of Textiles and Clothing won the championship again in this year’s Retail Futures Challenge - a highlight event in the World Retail Congress 2012. The team comprised four students, namely Lee Ung-min (captain), Nigel Yau, Jann Lam and Alexandra Leung, working under the tutelage of academic supervisors Dr Chris Lo, Mrs Paulene Hsia, Dr Ho Chu-po and Dr Rachel Yee.

Under the contest’s theme “Imaging the Store of Tomorrow”, the team created a business proposal of an up market, one-stop luxury children’s retail model named “Palais de Tresors”. It aims to provide a seamless shopping experience to target customers, especially “generation Y” parents in China, with technology-based store experience and a “virtual butler” to be downloaded by smart phone or tablet PC users.
