Health technology researcher wins two international awards

English specialists receive research grants and award

Prof. Xu You-lin, Chair Professor and Head of PolyU’s Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, has recently been selected as the 2012 recipient of the Robert H. Scanlan Medal by the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is honoured “for his outstanding contributions to the theory and practice of the aerodynamics and health monitoring of long-span cable-supported bridges.” The selection committee also noted his achievements in the fields of structural dynamics, wind engineering, and structural health and monitoring and control. 

This annual award is presented by the Society to recognize “distinguished achievement in engineering mechanics based upon scholarly contributions to both theory and practice”. Prof. Xu is the tenth recipient of the prestigious award since its introduction in 2003.
