Five prominent figures conferred honorary doctorates

 

 

 

This year, PolyU sent forth about 10,800 graduates. The University’s 17th Congregation was held on campus on 29 October. Presiding over the occasion were the Honourable Marjorie Yang, Council Chairman, and Prof. Timothy W. Tong, President.

During the Congregation, the University conferred honorary doctorates upon five prominent figures in recognition of their distinguished accomplishments and contributions. The honorary degree recipients are Mr Victor Lo Chung-wing, former PolyU Council Chairman; Prof. John Nash, Nobel Laureate in Economics; Mr Ng Wing-hong, the loyal alumnus; Prof. Henry T. Yang, Chancellor of the University of California, Santa Barbara; and Prof. Yang Wei, President of Zhejiang University.

Speaking at the Congregation, PolyU President Prof. Tong revealed the University's new vision — Be a leading university that excels in professional education, applied research and partnership for the betterment of Hong Kong, the nation and the world. Details >>
