The Hong Kong Academy of Humanities was established recently. With 39 Foundation Fellows from local higher education institutions, the Academy aims to form a strong and united voice on behalf of the humanities and recognize excellence in humanities scholarship and research. The Academy also strives to contribute to the advancement of society through collegial exchange in and support of the arts and humanities.

Three PolyU scholars were elected to the Academy. They are: Prof. Huang Chu-ren, Chair Professor of Applied Chinese Language Studies and Dean of PolyU Faculty of Humanities (Executive Committee Member and Foundation Fellow), Prof. Chu Hung-lam, Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Chinese Culture (Foundation Fellow), and Prof. Winnie Cheng, Director of the Research Centre for Professional Communication in English of the Department of English (Foundation Fellow).
