PolyU and Sichuan University recently signed an agreement to jointly nurture doctoral research students. The signing ceremony, held in Sichuan on 21 March, was attended by PolyU President Prof. Timothy Tong, SichuanU President Prof. Xie Heping and senior members of both universities. With the support of a donation of RMB200 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced in 2010, the two universities will jointly establish the Training Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction which is expected to come into operation by 2012.
