PolyU presented Long Service Awards to a total of 345 staff members in appreciation of their loyal service at a special ceremony held on 15 January. They included staff members who have served the University for 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years. This year was the first time that PolyU presented Long Service Awards to staff members who have served for as long as 35 years.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Long Service Award to Prof. Ko Jan-ming, Vice President (Special Duties), who has served the University for 30 years.

During the ceremony, the Long Service Award was also presented to former Deputy President and Council Secretary Mr Alexander Tzang, who has served PolyU for 15 years and retired on 31 December 2009. A farewell dinner in honour of Mr Tzang was also staged by PolyU members and friends of the industry on 14 January, and over 300 guests joined the memorable occasion.
