The General Education Centre (GEC) was established in
1998. It offers a wide range of Cluster Area Requirement
(CAR) subjects to, among others, UGC-funded undergraduates
at the University. It also offers a Service-Learning (SL)
Subject, entitled “Social Poverty in Developing Countries,”
for undergraduate students.
The GEC is distinguished by the diversity of the staff
members’ research backgrounds and teaching experience.
Their fields include art studies, cinema studies, ethnic
studies, gender studies, history literature, natural science,
philosophy and political science. The special emphasis
on the importance of interdisciplinary studies and the
cultivation of critical and creative thinking is embodied
in all of the CAR subjects they offer.
