The General Education
Centre (GEC) was established in 1998. It offers a wide
range of Cluster Area Requirement (CAR) subjects to UGC-funded
undergraduate students and others at the University. The
Centre also offers a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
to the general public and is co-developing more MOOCs
with other departments.
GEC is distinguished by the diversity of it staff members’
research background and teaching experiences. Their fields
include philosophy, literature, history, and political
science, as well as studies of art, cinema, and genders.
This leads to a natural emphasis on interdisciplinary
studies and the cultivation of critical and creative thinking
in GEC subjects.
