The purpose of this workshop series is to provide the participants with deeper insights into the development of subject assessment rubrics and grade descriptors. To achieve this, each session will begin by reviewing similar practices in Hong Kong and elsewhere in the world, while taking into consideration what have emerged from the consultations with individual departments of PolyU during late April to early May. It will then engage the participants in constructing and sharing with one another their own subject assessment rubric in alignment with the grade descriptors. With feedback provided, it is expected that at the end of each session, the participants will develop a deeper understanding about subject assessment rubrics and grade descriptors, be able to construct quality ones, hence be able to make the best use of the tools in ensuring effective learning in their students.

There will be four sessions. Each session includes examples designed exclusively for two cognate Faculties/Schools. While the seminars are opened to all, colleagues are highly encouraged to bring along their own subject assessment rubric and participate in the session which is designed exclusively for their Faculty/School.

This workshop series is co-organised by the Working Group on Subject Quality Assurance and the Educational Development Centre.
