PolyU’s new MOOC breaks enrollment record

In this digital era, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) drive a new wave of learning. PolyU started

Two MOOCs were launched in August 2015. The first one titled “Knowledge Management and Big Data in Business” received overwhelming response with some 22,000 students, breaking the Hong Kong record of MOOC enrollment. This 6-week course examined the role of knowledge management, the rapid and massive accumulation of data in the cloud, the transition from data to information and knowledge, Big Data projects, learning analytics and how to enact innovations with cloud services and more.

Also, the second one with a high enrollment approaching 18,000 students is the MOOC on “Human Anatomy”. This 8-week course explored the structure of the human body through a real-life case scenario of stroke, covering knowledge on body systems and important organs, anatomical orientation and skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system and special sense, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems.

Moreover, A MOOC on “English@Work in Asia” had been offered in late 2015. Apart from job application strategies, creative CVs and letter templates, this course also covered the construction of a compelling online presence, and how to stand out and ace in job interviews.
