Japan-Hong Kong Relations Opportunities for Japan’s Regional Economics

Japan is a country that always has a close relationship with Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, we can see Japanese influence everywhere, including food, fashion, and entertainment. If we take a step back and look at this relationship in a bigger picture, how does it create opportunities for the region? The Consul-General will give an overview on Hong Kong’s position and business environment for foreigners, and share on Japan-Hong Kong relations and the opportunities presented for Japan’s regional economics.

Speaker’s Biography


Mr Kuninori MATSUDA has been working in the field of Japanese foreign affairs for over 30 years. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan in 1982 and has served in various positions in the Ministry, Embassies and Consulates of different countries ever since. He was appointed as Director of Overseas Public Relations Division in 2001, and Director of Russian Division in 2004. Prior to his appointment as Consul-General and Ambassador of Japan to Hong Kong in 2015, Mr Kuninori also served as Minister of Japan to Isreal from 2007 to 2010, and Consul-General of Japan to Detroit from 2010 to 2013.
