Title of project:
Spatial Integration Properties Underlying Myopic-astigmatic development
Synopsis:
Astigmatism is a very common refractive error affecting vision constantly but its etiology remains elusive. There are evidence from human studies which suggest that eye growth is sensitive to the orientation of astigmatism. Emerging evidence from chicks also indicate that the presence of astigmatism can interfere with the refractive error development. Given the paucity of data related to the signaling pathway of astigmatic eye growth, this project will investigate whether and how altering spatial properties could interfere with the end point of refractive development.
