Safety of Long-term Ortho-k (SOLO) Study
Myopia is a public health concern in Hong Kong. Preventive measures are available but may not have sound evidence for myopia control. Orthokeratology is one of the methods which has been shown to be effective in slowing myopia progression in children. The treatment is gaining popularity in Hong Kong as the treatment also allows freedom from spectacles in the daytime. Provision of proper training and guidelines to practitioners and from practitioners to patients are available, however, reports of corneal infection associated with this type of contact lenses happen from time to time. This dissertation aims at investigating risks involved in this treatment and thus, looking for measures to reduce the risk of corneal infection.
