Title of project:
Effect of Traditional Chinese Herbs in Glaucoma Treatment

Synopsis:
Current research in glaucoma focuses on neuroprotection in order to arrest the secondary degeneration following the current standard treatment approved for glaucoma. Traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) is known to exhibit neuroprotection in many neurodegenerative disease. The neuroprotective properties of TCM has been proved in both acute and chronic glaucoma models. Our interest is to evaluate the structural and functional changes of chronic glaucoma model with introduction of TCM at various time points of induced disease. The outcome of the study might assist us to predict the application of TCM and its successfulness in translational research in glaucoma.
