Title of project:
Regional Variations and Spatial Frequency Preference of Electroretinal Activity to Optical Defocus in Human Eye

Many animal studies hypothesized the retina was the site for detecting sign of defocus and initiating eye growth response, thus emmetropization. Our lab applied multifocal electroretinal technique and found that the retinal activities were defocus-sign-dependent. In my study, I further investigated the spatial effect on the sign-dependent characteristics in retina. The retina is shown to be more sensitive in "decoding" defocus under a relatively lower spatial content at peripheral region.
