Biographical Sketch

Dr Do completed a Bachelor of Science in Optometry from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He then worked as a Research Assistant for one year before pursuing a PhD program at the same University. Dr Do then joined the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in the United States where he received his postdoctoral training. In 2006, he joined the School of Optometry at PolyU as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013.

Dr Do’s research interest is the pathophysiology of glaucoma. His research has been trying to unravel the regulatory mechanisms for controlling the rate of aqueous humor secretion, outflow facility and intraocular pressure (IOP). He has adopted an integrated approach using both in vivo and in vitro animal models to investigate the modulation of aqueous humor dynamics and its relationship to IOP. The outcome of these studies may have a direct translational biomedical significance for the future development of novel anti-glaucoma drugs.

Dr Do is currently a board member of the Optometrists Board in Hong Kong. He is also a member of a working group on the overall review of the Code of Practice for registered Optometrists.
