IMPACT2023: Bridging Theory and Practice Whilst Exploring Tourism and Hospitality in the Post-Pandemic Era
The IMPACT2023 conference is being organised by the SHTM and its Hospitality and Tourism Research Centre, in collaboration with STR, and will be held at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong on 7 and 8 December 2023.

Bridging theory and practice has been a constant theme in the fields of tourism and hospitality. With its theme of "Tourism and Hospitality in the Post-Pandemic Era", IMPACT2023 will serve as a platform on which industry executives, government officials and academics can interact to discuss trends and insights, share research findings and practices, explore creative pathways and envisage strategies with the goals of achieving sustainability, revitalisation and resilience after the pandemic.
Undergraduate Student Research Competition @ IMPACT2023

The Undergraduate Student Research Competition at IMPACT2023 aims to showcase undergraduate students' theoretical knowledge and research skills and to expand the frontiers of their knowledge in the fields of hospitality, tourism, MICE and related fields.
SHTM Scholars Successfully Obtained Major Publicly Funded Competitive Research Grants

Academic research is without a doubt one of the cornerstones of higher education, and the SHTM's research output clearly demonstrates its strength as a leading hospitality and tourism school. In the announcement of the 2023/24 results of grants from the Research Grants Councils' General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS), a total of 14 SHTM projects will be funded this year.
SHTM to Launch a New Master's Degree in Luxury Experiences Management

Expectations that the global luxury hotel market will exceed USD230 billion by 2028 indicate an upward trend in the luxury market. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to experience the fastest growth in this field worldwide. Hong Kong, located at the heart of the booming Asia-Pacific region, is best positioned to provide postgraduate education in luxury experiences management and thus produce qualified professionals to cater to the strong demand in this market.
Applications for the New Master of Science Degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Hospitality Will Open in September 2023

Despite facing many challenges over the past few years, hospitality industry practitioners have evolved with the times, embracing new trends by adopting innovative and ground-breaking methods of conducting business. As the hospitality industry recovers and continues to invest in innovative practices, many businesses have entered the industry in response to recovering consumer demand. The increase in demand in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship in hospitality has come with a surge in demand for talent with professional qualifications.
Elite Management Programme is Raising the Bar for Hospitality Excellence

Since its inception, Hotel ICON, the SHTM's teaching and research hotel, has spearheaded the School's efforts to further develop the hospitality sector. As a central component in the SHTM's innovative educational approach, the hotel continues to cultivate an outstanding new generation of hoteliers.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

The Master of Science in Global Hospitality Business programme has won an award in the International Strategy of the Year category of the 2023 THE Awards Asia. The award recognised the programme's outstanding success in establishing institutional partnerships and globally focused approach to education.
