Finger amputee prosthetic named Hong Kong Best Design at TechStyle for Social Good 2019

We feel so proud to know that Miss Wendy Law has recently received the Hong Kong Best Design Award among the 12 finalists at the Techstyle for Social Good International Competition 2019, with her Human Scale class project ‘Aesthesis - The partial hand accessories for amputees’ designed for her mother who lost her fingers in an accident. This finger amputee prosthetic is a 3D-printed decorative device made of both soft and hard materials. Compared with the existing products, it is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also lighter in weight and more breathable. It can help cover up the lost part while extending the residual finger to provide more finger functions, such as holding a mobile phone, to enhance users’ quality of lives. The winning project are being exhibited with other winners from the USA and UK at the Mills until 26 August; and at PolyU’s Fashion Gallery from 27 August to 22 September. Full Winners' List Wendy's story in the media: 專訪設計師羅詠欣  (Passion Times, 14 September 2019) 設計義肢手套 創造共融社會 (Oriental Daily, 8 August 2019) 孝女為母親設計精美義肢 (Epoch Times, 12 July 2019) (photo from Techstyle for Social Good International Competition)
