Topic: Chinese Tea Culture Revival
Project Type: Focused Report
This capstone project focuses on the revitalization of Chinese tea culture, which is an ancient and culturally significant treasure of the nation. Chinese tea has a rich history and holds deep cultural symbolism, representing a cultivation of taste and lifestyle that has given rise to a plethora of tea-related cultural traits. However, in recent times, the prominence of tea has diminished due to the emergence of various competing beverages and the fast-paced lifestyle of modern society.

To address this issue, our project aims to explore how to revive Chinese tea culture and restore its prominence in the international cultural context. We conducted extensive research to gain a comprehensive understanding of the tea drinking habits of today's Chinese youth, their reasons behind these habits, and their level of understanding of tea culture. Through questionnaires, one-on-one interviews, and fieldwork, we discovered that young Chinese people recognize the cultural value of tea and are interested in learning more about it.

Based on our findings, we propose utilizing the Tea'stone brand as a model and building upon it through branding, marketing, and design strategies. We believe that effective branding can play a crucial role in the dissemination of culture, and the emerging consumer experience economy in China offers immense potential for promoting tea culture. By applying the Double Diamond design method as our primary framework, we aim to create a complete and sustainable network system for spreading tea culture.

Our project seeks to engage the interest of young people, educate them about the significance of tea, and provide them with opportunities to experience and appreciate tea culture. By revitalizing Chinese tea culture, we aim to preserve a valuable cultural heritage and promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

Revitalizing Chinese tea culture is crucial amidst modern challenges. Research reveals the genuine interest of young Chinese individuals in reconnecting with their cultural roots. Through branding, marketing, and immersive experiences, a comprehensive network system can bridge tradition and modernity, fostering cross-cultural understanding and supporting local tea artisans.
Reviving Chinese tea culture is vital for preserving heritage, fostering understanding, supporting artisans, and promoting sustainable practices. It enriches cultural identity, encourages mindfulness, and creates economic opportunities while showcasing the beauty of Chinese traditions.
Our findings show branding's positive impact on culture dissemination, while China's emerging consumer experience economy holds immense potential for promoting tea culture.
We conceptualize the tea'verse ecosystem, focusing on products, services, and sub-platforms. By addressing gaps, we enhance value and create a better user experience, fostering innovation and improvement.
