Meet the Fellows
Sion W. L. Chan
I am sure what I learn from this master programme will definitely shape me to be a competent CX designer.
I am always keen on the innovative industry, especially the customer experience (CX) design. I have 3 years of working experience and have involved in many large-scale projects with recognised remarkable performance.

I was a UX designer in IBM and assisted in developing a software called Verse for receiving and dispatching emails and organising the daily work schedule in the office. I did a lot of research on the habits of using emails in different countries. Besides, basing on the computer language of HTML, I helped to create a measurement tool to collect feedback from users to improve the plan-implementation-evaluation work process.

After working in IBM, I was invited by the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong to be a project coordinator and director of a micro film to promote human right of minority groups. Later, I worked in Legato Technology Limited and was promoted to senior UI/UX designer within only 9 months due to my outstanding performance and positive attributes. When working with my colleagues, I shared a lot of UI/UX skills that they don't know, for example, the design system, A/B test, and information architecture.

I am now working in HKT Limited, and my supervisors also recognise my contributions to the company. Currently, I am one of the team members to revamp The Club project, which is a loyalty programme. The tasks allocated to me involve certain business knowledge and strategies. Therefore, my supervisors support me to take this master programme of design strategies to enrich my professional knowledge. It is my honour to have two team managers to be my referees. I am a keen learner. To keep abreast of the trend of innovative industry, I take every opportunity to acquire related knowledge. For example, I study design system and user interview skill from books and try to apply what I learn to my work. Also, I study and practice coding skills such as Bootstrap, and apply it to build up a website for my clients. Besides, I took a course learning how to use Unity to build a game.

As for my career, my ultimate goal is to be a CX team leader. It is because I want to manage well everything between the users and the products. However, I understand CX is a new concept in Hong Kong design industry. Even large-scale companies like HKT are not sensitive enough to be aware of the CX development trend. Therefore, it is my ambition to promote CX in Hong Kong.

I am eager to share my knowledge with my colleagues in the workplace. I also want to set up a CX design team to develop new products with excellent customer experience.

After completing this master programme, I wish to serve the community by promoting the CX in the Hong Kong design industry.
