Chong Ting Yan
I am highly ambitious and passionate about Interaction Design. I reckon the growing importance of technology in our lives, and I want to influence the world with human-computer interaction design. Thus, I attended online courses, learned various UX tools, and subsequently decided to apply for the MDes program for a more in-depth and comprehensive education. I have had clear career planning and hoped to create a social impact with my study outcome. I am a keen learner with curiosity. Graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University, I received a Bachelor of Communication degree with Upper Second Class Honour. In 2019, I participated in an international summer exchange program at BI Norwegian Business School, studying Intercultural Management in Scandinavian Perspective. Outside the classroom, I have been equipping myself with better English and obtained a high score in the IELTS examination in 2019. Meanwhile, since 2016, I have been learning various design tools such as the Adobe Suite, Sketch, and Figma by myself. I believe the consistency of learning is the key to success.

Gaining some relevant working experiences, I have my career path planned. Between 20219 and 2020, I worked in an E-commerce company under one of the largest health and beauty retailers as a Web and Graphic Design Intern. I was solely responsible for all the visual production, from online to offline, from brainstorming to implementation. After that, I worked for an advertising agency as an Assistant Art Director. I generated creative ideas and executed them for various clients, provided art directions, and presented designs to clients.

After completing this Master’s degree, I would like to work in UX/UI agency to work for clients from various industries, gain more exposure and experience, and sharpen my skills. After becoming a sophisticated UX designer, I hope to use my capabilities and experiences to create social impact. I would join the product design team of new systems or software, which might improve or simplify people’s work, or bring convenience to people. Also, I would like to work with the government or NGOs to improve their products or build new products. By optimizing the conversion and usability of the products, Hong Kong citizens could use their services at ease, and more people in need could be helped.
