Summary
The Greater Bay Area (GBA) is a dynamic engine of innovation and growth, yet its rapid urbanization demands visionary strategies to balance economic ambition with sustainability and equity. This colloquium covers policy, urban strategies, planning and complex spatial systems to explore strategic scenario-building as a tool for shaping the GBA’s future.
As the GBA evolves into a globally connected mega-region, challenges such as climate resilience, infrastructure integration, and equitable resource distribution require adaptive, forward-looking planning. This event will examine how scenario-based approaches can anticipate risks, align stakeholder priorities, and foster cross-border collaboration:
- Scenario design for climate adaptation and green transitions;
- Smart regional planning to harmonize urban-rural development;
- Governance frameworks enabling multi-jurisdictional coordination;
- Innovative technologies driving data-informed decision-making.
The programme will include presenters Prof. Gerhard Bruyns (PolyU), Prof. Peter Hasdell (PolyU), Prof. Jiaxiu Cai (CUHK) and Prof. Diego Sepulveda (TU Delft), and Dr Y. Peng (PolyU). Additionally, PhD researchers Liu Yu, Ruohan Yin, Yangyang Pan, and Saijal Sharma will also participate.
