After working as a physical therapist in Guangdong Work Injury Rehabilitation Hospital for two years, I joined Prof. Marco Pang’s research team. My previous clinical experience in hospital has convinced me that to rigorously answer the existing clinical questions and essentially improve the quality of evidence-based clinical practice, comprehensive and solid academic techniques and a strong mindset are especially crucial. Thus I applied for the PhD programme at PolyU. I have the passion to discover new knowledge and translate such knowledge into clinical protocols and guidelines that can advance our profession and eventually benefit patients in need and our society.
My PhD project aims to explore the issue of bone health in people with stroke. I will investigate how different factors including stroke characteristics, muscle strength, vascular health, walking status and physical activity level may influence macro- and micro-structural changes of long bones after stroke. The findings of this project can advance the development of bone health rehabilitation in the stroke population.
