Dean of Students Talk Series

The Student Affairs Office organizes a wide variety of Dean of Students talks to encourage and inspire students to develop their full potential in all aspects of their lives.

Renowned leaders in the society, entrepreneurs, and industrialists are invited to speak and pass their nuggets of wisdom on to PolyU students. The talks cover a wide range of topics from challenges in the workplace, life planning, sharing with success stories of the speakers to culture, society, politics, and economics. Through the real-life stories of the speakers, it is hoped that students would be inspired to chase their dreams and have a positive attitude towards life.

Moreover, to broaden students’ horizon beyond their selected academic field, speakers from different areas are invited to share their expertise areas that students are interested in but may not have a chance to learn in their study programmes. With focuses on specific areas and its applications, these talks cover the topics of science, engineering, economics, arts and culture, etc.

Examples of past Dean of Students Talk speakers include Ms Prudence Mak, Founder and Designer of Chocolate Rain; Dr Sunny Chai, Board Chairman of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation; and Mr Wing Mo Leung, the Former Assistant Director of Hong Kong Observatory.
