Peer Mentoring Scheme

Objective

The Peer Mentoring Scheme aims to assist first-year non-local undergraduate students in making a better adjustment to university life in Hong Kong.

Being a Peer Mentor

Eligibility

  • All non-Year 1 UGC-funded undergraduate students

 

Roles of Peer Mentors

Being a mentor, we would like you to:

  • Contact and provide care and support to your mentees through various means of communication*.
  • Assist mentees in adapting to Hong Kong and University life:
  •  Provide information about the University activities and resources
  • Direct to resources and support services on campus
  • Share your experiences in different aspects such as local, campus life and study-related matters
  • Connect with mentees either online or in-person*

* Students are required to observe the latest rules and regulations from the Hong Kong Government regarding the social distancing measures before organising activities.

 

Commitments of Peer Mentors

  • Attend a mandatory coaching session
  • Initiate contact with your mentees
  • Provide necessary supports to mentees
  • Stay connected with the facilitator of the Peer Mentoring Scheme and let him/her about your progress
  • Attend the scheduled sharing session
  • Complete the post-event survey and provide feedback
  • If possible, record your precious time with your mentees. You may take photos of your gatherings and/or share with us in writing about your gained experience#.

#The photos and information submitted may be used for event publicity.

 

Recognition

A certificate of appreciation will be issued to mentors who have successfully completed the scheme.

 

Being a Peer Mentee

Eligibility

  • All Year 1 UGC-funded non-local undergraduate students

 

What you will gain

  • Receive advice from peer mentors for adapting to University life
  • Enlarge your social networks
  • Enhance interpersonal and communication skills
  • Get extensive information about campus resources and activities, as well as local culture
