Limitless 2018/19

Inclusion Awareness Campaign: Limitless 2019

Centre STARS is making every effort to promote inclusion awareness on campus. To achieve this, “Limitless”, an inclusion awareness campaign, has been launched every year since 15/16.

This year, we commenced a bunch of “Limitless” activities with a Kick-off Ceremony held on 19 February 2019. Mr. Benny Cheung, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Council for People with Disabilities and Ms. Jess Shek, General Secretary of Hong Kong Blind Union and our alumna with visual impairment, gave inspiring speeches during this occasion.

Right after the ceremony, an exhibition, with support from 11 social enterprises / non-government organizations, was unveiled to showcase the talents of people with special needs and to provide various chances for students and staff to understand different types of disabilities. The exhibition brought not only knowledge but also fun to participants.

Ms. Sammy Yau, PolyU graduate whom had designed a typography generator - Easiread, shared her such innovation with PolyU community on 26 February 2019. Her sharing enlightened us how technology could facilitate the life of those with learning difficulties.

The finale of “Limitless” 2019 was an Inclusion Awareness Banquet held on 1 March. This banquet, planned and arranged by a group of enthusiastic “Limitless” ambassadors, provided chances for participants to experience challenges of different disability types, as well as to learn simple sign language.

We hope that through “Limitless”, seeds of Understanding, Acceptance, Appreciation and Integration have been sowed to the heart of everyone on campus.
