The University has already prepared an insurance coverage for students joining PolyU activities during their stay in Hong Kong.  The existing Group Personal Accident Insurance for students covers accidental bodily injury/ accidental death / & permanent disability incurred whilst engaging in the activities organized / arranged / endorsed / recognized / approved by the University only.

Besides, the University has acquired Group Travel Insurance for students participating in activities, recognized by PolyU, outside Hong Kong.

For illnesses, students can consult the University Health Services for primary health care service.

With Hong Kong Identity Card, you are entitled to local residential rate in public clinics and hospitals

Please note that PolyU insurance policies do NOT cover personal hospital expenses, public liability or travel outside Hong Kong. Hence, you may consider purchasing Group Medical Insurance Policy and/or Public Liability Insurance Policy for better protection. Brief highlights are as follows:

  • The Group Medical Insurance Policy covers hospitalization medical expenses due to illness and accidental bodily injuries. However, Out-patient consultations will NOT be covered by the Group Medical Insurance Policy.
  • The Public Liability Insurance Policy covers legal liability for accidental third party property damage (tangible property) and/or accidental third party bodily injury in connection with the Insured’s business.

Please note that the Group Medical and Public Liability insurances are only valid while students are staying in Hong Kong.

To cater for the non-local students who are currently residing outside Hong Kong, the scheme will be launched in January 2021.  Details of registration will be announced in December 2020.

If you intend to travel outside Hong Kong during your study at PolyU for your personal activities, you are strongly recommended to purchase a travel insurance plan.
