曹原博士首先在香港城市大學完成心理學學士學位，其後往澳大利亞深造並獲昆士蘭大學頒授神經科學碩士學位、臨床心理學碩士學位和心理學博士學位。
曹博士於2020年加入香港理工大學，在醫療及社會科學院院長岑浩強教授的實驗室擔任博士後研究員，2021年起轉任康復治療科學系助理教授（研究）。曹博士在回港從事學術界工作前，曾在澳洲社區醫療診所擔任註冊心理學家，並在非政府組織擔任研究員。她在心理問題（例如抑鬱症、焦慮症、精神分裂）及人際關係問題（如家庭治療）方面具有臨床和研究經驗。
曹博士的主要研究方向為社會認知，即理解他人並與他人建立聯繫的能力。她的研究對象包括不同人群，例如精神分裂症、抑鬱症、焦慮症或自閉症患者，以及不同年齡層的人群。她結合使用行為任務（例如電腦遊戲和問卷）和腦成像技術（如功能磁共振成像）來更好地了解年齡及心理健康對社會認知的影響。
