Biography
Josephine worked in public hospitals for more than 20 years before joining PolyU. She specializes in orthopaedic rehabilitation especially in hand and upper limb conditions. Since 2003, she started to talk as the visiting lecturer in local universities, including Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, sharing her clinical experiences with undergraduates and postgraduates. She has travelled to a number of cities international wide as invited guest speakers in international seminars, conferences and practical workshops on hand splinting skills, including Beijing (北京), Guangzhou (廣州), Shenzhen (深圳), ShangHai (上海), Wuxi (無錫), Cangzhou (滄州), Zhengzhou (鄭州), Qingdao (青島), Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, Turkey to present her expertise to allied health practitioners.
She received the Department Outstanding Teaching Team Award and the Faculty Prize for Outstanding Achievement (in Teaching) in 2022. She is the leader of many department teaching and learning projects to improve the quality of teaching through innovative pedagogy and enhance students’ learning experiences.
Josephine also actively participates in organizing educational activities for local therapists, aiming at enhancing the professional development for all therapists who specialize in hand rehabilitation. In 2007 she founded and chaired the Hong Kong Society for Hand Therapy and became the Congress President of the 3rd Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Hand Therapists in the same year, delivering valuable experiences to therapists all over Asian-Pacific region.
