PolyU and JITRI sign a Memorandum of Understanding to foster research collaboration PolyU announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI), witnessed by The Hon. Mrs Carrie LAM, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and WU Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu Province. The MoU offers a framework for research collaboration to develop basic research in science and technology, as well as for developing and implementing applied research projects in Jiangsu Province. Held during the 2nd Jiangsu-Hong Kong Summit on Interconnected Development in Nanjing, the signing ceremony marks a milestone in joint research efforts between Hong Kong and Jiangsu. With the aim of commercialising high-level innovative technology outputs in global markets, basic research collaboration in a number of disciplines will be explored. ​ PolyU - Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) Collaborative Funding Scheme JITRI sets up a fund pool of 20 million RMB (per year) for PolyU PI, to provide matching funding for JITRI specialized institute / JITRI institute spinoff company collaborative research projects. Focus area includes Materials and Energy Environmental Protection, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Medicine and Advanced Manufacturing. PolyU - Wuyi University research collaboration in textile technology

PolyU and Wuyi University (WYU) signed a collaborative framework agreement to join hands for research on the development of green and healthy textile materials over a span of three years. The collaboration marks an important milestone of joint R&D effort between Hong Kong and Jiangmen – two major cities in the Greater Bay Area. As one of the world's largest textile and garment production and consumption regions, the Mainland's growing demand for "green and healthy" textile has created a huge market potential for antibacterial and mildew resistant textiles. The collaboration aims to facilitate the experts from the two universities to innovate dyeing and finishing technologies for fabrics so as to address the health and environmental concerns associated with man-made fibers and their chemical processes. The research will also study the ingredients and methodologies to enhance the antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal performances in textiles. 4U9A6369 4U9A6432

Guangdong-HK-Macau Space Science Alliance and Ocean Technology Alliance

A total of 21 universities and institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, including PolyU, joined the Alliances – an important initiative to harness the growing momentum of the nation’s development, and provide a robust talent pool and strong technical support for the national strategic development in areas of space and ocean. October 2020 - Online Conference: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Space Science and Technology In the Online Conference of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Space Science and Technology, members of the Alliance Committee including PolyU, nominated the director and the deputy director of the Alliance and discussed other issues related to the Alliance. RIO, Professor Yu Changyuan from the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering of PolyU, and Dr. Fangxin (Frank) Zou, Assistant Professor of the Interdisciplinary Division of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering of PolyU were invited to join the “Academic Exchange and Development Planning" session. Dr. Zou presented the report of “A Highly Sensitive Nanocomposite Ultrasonic Sensor Fabricated from Polydopamine-Coated Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene”.

Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Rail Transit Joint Innovation Union

Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Rail Transit Joint Innovation Union PolyU and Shenzhen University spearhead the establishment of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Rail Transit Joint Innovation Union” (the Union) with 10 other universities and enterprises. By combining the research strengths of the collaborating parties, the Union aims to build an integrated rail transit system within “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay” through research and technological breakthroughs to cater to the tremendous needs of safe operations and maintenance of the rail transit in GBA.
