Visit to Hokkaido University

Prof. Kenneth Fong, Director of RCATech, Associate Head (Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer) and Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Associate Dean (Community and Global Engagement), visited Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Hokkaido University on 30 June 2026. Prof. Fong was invited by Hokkaido Occupational Therapy Association to deliver the keynote presentation at the research seminar on 26 Oct 2026. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Prof Daisuke Sawamura, Head of Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Occupational Therapy Professor, Prof Akihiro Ishizu, Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences, other faculty members and graduate students of Rehabilitation Sciences, and Taena Uemura from Office for International Collaborations, Hokkaido University.

Keynote Address at Global Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Network Summit

Prof. Kenneth Fong, Associate Head and Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Director of RCATech delivered a keynote address at the Global Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology Network (GReAT) Summit 2026, a premier international conference focused on rehabilitation science, technology, and clinical innovation. His keynote, "Technology for Upper Limb Home-based Post-Stroke Rehabilitation", further highlighted the potential of innovation to advance recovery and improve patient outcomes beyond traditional care settings.

Presentation on Advances in Health Technology at HA Convention

At the 2026 Hospital Authority Convention (HA Convention, 11–13 May), Prof. Kenneth Fong, Associate Head and Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Director of RCATech, shared his vision of "Enhancing Home-based Rehabilitation Through Locally Tailored Technology Innovations", in the special session on Advances in Health Technology.

The award-winning Powered Rehab Skateboard drew strong interest at the PolyU Faculty of Health and Social Sciences booth at the HA Convention. The portable training device is designed to support home-based and community rehabilitation for stroke patients, reflecting the real-world impact of innovation in rehabilitation sciences. This strong response highlights the growing importance of practical, patient-centered technologies that can support recovery beyond hospital settings. The future of home-based rehabilitation lies in innovations that are accessible, effective, and built around patients’ daily needs.
