Two PolyU scholars awarded prestigious RGC research fellowships
Every year, the Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS) and Research Fellow Scheme (RFS) respectively award ten grants to exceptionally outstanding researchers at the UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong. This year, two PolyU scholars have received awards in recognition of their research excellence.
Conferred the title of “RGC Senior Research Fellow” under the SRFS, Prof. Meng Ni is Associate Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Environment and Professor of the Department of Building and Real Estate. His research aims to overcome the complexity of using protonic ceramic fuel cells for clean power generation by integrating knowledge of engineering, chemistry, physics and material science.
Under the RFS, Prof. Buyang Li, Professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics, has been conferred the title “RGC Research Fellow” in recognition of his research in the areas of applied, numerical and computational mathematics, which aspires to produce insights into a series of long-standing mathematical questions.
PolyU Vice President (Research and Innovation) Prof. Christopher Chao said the exceptional capacity and competitiveness of the University in promoting and conducting multifaceted research across various academic disciplines has been highlighted by these accomplishments. “Their achievements serve as an inspiration to other researchers, encouraging them to persist in pursuing impactful research for the betterment of society,” he added.
