The STARS Residential College was officially unveiled on 6 October by Mr Marco Wu Moon-hoi, PolyU Outstanding Alumnus and former Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Society, and Prof. Ben Young, PolyU’s Vice President (Student and Global Affairs).
The College is established under the Special Talents Admission and Recognition Scheme (STARS), which aims to admit students who have demonstrated remarkable talents in one or more of the following areas: sports, arts and culture, community service and leadership, as well as in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The College also provides residents with a vibrant living and learning environment to facilitate their talent development alongside their pursuit of academic studies.
The plaque unveiled was of Mr Wu’s Chinese calligraphy, a generous gift from Mr Wu to the College. In light of Mr Wu’s remarkable contributions to our society over the years, he was also invited to give an inspirational talk to share his personal experiences of career development with STARS residents, making the ceremony a very meaningful one for our students.
