COVID-19 supplies distribution shows spirit of mutual care
PolyU and the Youth Anti-Coronavirus Link joined hands to distribute COVID-19 supplies to PolyU students and young staff between 12th and 14th April, as part of the Link’s new round of community service to support Hong Kong youngsters in the fight against the pandemic.
Distinguished PolyU alumni including Mr Alfred Sit, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, and Dr Johnny Ng Kit-chong, LegCo Member and CPPCC National Committee Member, joined student volunteers on 13 April to help disseminate the supplies on campus. They were accompanied by Mr Kenneth Leung Yuk-wai, Covenor of the Link and LegCo Member; Mr Alexander Yeung Ching-loong, Executive Vice-chairman of Hong Kong United Youth Association; and the University management.
The activity was initiated by All-China Youth Federation, the Liaison Office of Central People’s Government and the Hong Kong Volunteers Against Coronavirus, with supplies donated by various Hong Kong and mainland organizations and corporations. The Link arranged the distribution of supplies to children from grassroot families and young people.
Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, expressed the University’s gratitude to the organizers and donors, adding that the activity had underscored the community’s care towards local youths. It has also demonstrated the Central Government and mainland compatriots’ support to Hong Kong in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. He said PolyU researchers and students will continue to support battling the coronavirus with their professional expertise and research capability.
