Dr Wright is a four-time nominee for the University’s President’s Award for Excellence Performance and a Finalist for the 2015 University Grants Committee Teaching Award. In 2005, he received the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence. In 2013, he was nominated for election to serve on the Council of the university. Dr Wright is the past Chairperson (2015) for the Teaching Community of the American Strategic Management Society (SMS) overseeing pedagogical advancements for over 3000 strategy professors in 80+ countries. He was also past Chairperson (2012) of the Strategy Practice Research track of SMS. He is an award-winning reviewer and qualitative researcher. His research on “How useful are the strategic tools we teach in business schools?” won Best Paper of the Year Award in 2014 from the prestigious Journal of Management Studies. In 2016, he received the Emerald Citations of Excellence Award for high impact research. Dr Wright currently sits on the Editorial Review Boards of the Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE), Organizational Research Methods (ORM) and the Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Education (JME). (He previously served on the boards of AMR and JOB). He has published in New Horizons in Managerial and Organizational Cognition, Advances in Strategic Management, Journal of Management StudiesOrganizational Research MethodsResearch Methodology in Strategy and ManagementLeadership QuarterlyJournal of Organizational BehaviorJournal of Constructivist Psychology, inter alia. Outside of academia, he is a Fellow and served on the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management between 1998-2012. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. Dr Wright is a graduate of executive development programs in IMD in Switzerland, and the Harvard Business School.
