Flexible structures, such as plate or membrane, are widely encountered in various engineering branches. A good understanding on their dynamic characteristics and vibro-acoustic coupling behavior is of fundamental significance for the efficient acoustic design and noise control of relevant complex systems. In this talk, vibration analysis of plate structures, including in-plane, flexural and their interactions, will be presented. Vibro-acoustic coupling of flexible structure with enclosed acoustical cavity and duct sound fields are also discussed, with an emphasis put on duct silencer application, either single flexible cell or its periodic arrangement. Sound attenuation performance and bandgap characteristics of such duct-flexible structure-cavity systems are then analyzed.
Jingtao Du is a professor of College of Power and Energy Engineering, Harbin Engineering University. He got his Bachelor and PhD degrees both from Harbin Engineering University, in 2003 and 2009. Then, he worked as a Post-doc fellow in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Wayne State University, from 2009 to 2011. His main research interests include structural vibration, vibro-acoustics, duct acoustics, as well as analytical and numerical methods for structural-acoustic system modelling. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers.
