Seminar - Image Processing and Machine Vision to Measurement, Motion Control and Automation quantification by Prof. Chieh-Li Chen

The talk will start from a basic introduction for sensing and control systems. Inspired by visual system of creature, the machine vision is wildly applied in many fields. The machine vision technology becomes in practice with the support of computer system. A fast frame rate and computational speed make the result more promising in many application. The hardware and algorithms development of image processing and vision with depth information play important roles for Machine vision. They lead to 3 dimensional measurement and object reconstruction possible, that can further been applied to many applications, such as smart sensing, autonomous motion and intelligent manufacturing. Recent researches on vision systems will also be provided.
Dr. Chieh‐Li Chen – received B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University, Taiwan, in 1983. He then obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from Control Systems Centre, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, U.K., in 1987 and 1989, respectively. His majors are control system design and thermal system analysis. He joined the faculty of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan since 1990. His recent research includes nonlinear dynamics and control, machine vision, robotics, UAV and numerical heat transfer.
