This consortium was established with the mission to enhance the Hong Kong’s global competiveness through innovative teaching, fundamental research and the application of leading edge technologies and methodologies in the development of new products, advanced structures and systems.

The research activities of the consortium are mainly in the areas of advanced materials science and engineering covering nanomaterials & technology, materials design & simulation, structure-property relationships, biomaterials, functional and energy-related materials, composite materials, manufacturing technologies, product design and analysis.

The research work carried out by the members have resulted in international and national patents, and high quality publications in prestigious journals such as Nature Materials, Advanced Materials, Physical Review Letters, Carbon, Acta Materialia, Applied Physics Letters, etc. in recent years.
