A delegation from the Mechanical Engineering College of Yangzhou University visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on 20 Nov 2017 to foster academic exchange.
Leading by Dr Yu Qiang, Vice Secretary of the College, and Prof. Song Aiping, Head of Department of Mechatronics Engineering, the delegation comprised 20 undergraduate students from 4 streams, they are Automotive Engineering; Machine Design, Manufacturing and Automation; Agriculture Mechanization and Automation; and Material Processing and Control.
At the beginning, Prof. ZQ Su, Associate Head of PolyU Department of Mechanical Engineering, made a concise introduction which impressed the visiting students on the practicality and leading status of our research in engineering field. Following the presentation, Dr Yu, Prof. Song and students of Yangzhou University actively shared their thoughts with Prof. Su about the Hong Kong-Mainland China differences in engineering programme design and research environment.
Then, the delegation was guided a lab tour to the Aeronautical Lab (Flight Simulator), Acoustics Lab (Sound Measurement), Materials and Mechanics Technology Lab, and the Control Lab (Robotic Control). Lastly, they visited the PolyU Industrial Centre. Workshops regarding 3D printing, Automation, Composites and Digital Manufacturing were presented to highlight the proud technical achievements of PolyU.
The exchange activity was fruitful. Students showed their interests in pursuing further studies in ME and the delegation expressed much appreciation for the visit as a whole.
