Distinguished Scholar Prof. Huajian Gao joins ME Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has the honor to have invited Prof. Huajian Gao, Walter H. Annenberg Professor of Engineering at Brown University to the Department as Visiting Chair Professor under the Distinguished Chair Professor Scheme.
Prof. Huajian Gao is Walter H. Annenberg Professor of Engineering at Brown University since 2006. He received his Master and PhD from Harvard University, then worked as a faculty member at Stanford University from 1988 to 2002. Later he took the Directorship at Max Planck Institute for Metal Research in Germany from 2002 to 2006. Prof. Gao has obtained a long list of honors and awards, including the elected member of National Academy of Engineering of USA (2012) and foreign member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2015). Prof. Gao is an world authority in solid mechanics. In particular, he is one of the top scientists in nanomechanics and biomechanics. Prof. Gao’s H-index by ISI Web of Science is 70, and 80 by Google Citation. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of #1 journal in solid mechanics, Journal of Mechanics and Physics of Solids.
