In the recent round of Hong Kong Scholars application, The Department of Mechanical Engineering has successfully secured 4 Postdoctoral Fellows among 16 from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The 4 selected “Hong Kong Scholars”, respectively from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Sichuan University, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Fuzhou University, will come to Hong Kong to commence high-level research projects under the supervision of Prof. SQ Shi, Prof. LM Zhou, Dr MW Fu and Dr ZQ Su of the ME Department for two years.
This is the third year in a row that the Department has been successfully obtaining Postdoctoral fellows in this scheme since its launching three years ago. In the first two rounds of exercise, two post-doc fellows from Mainland have joined the department, working with Prof. Y. Zhou (former ME staff) and Prof. L. Cheng, respectively.
The “Hong Kong Scholars Program” is jointly launched by the Society of Hong Kong Scholars and the China National Postdoctoral Council under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. It aims at effectively pooling talent and research resource of Hong Kong and the Mainland to train outstanding postdoctoral fellows. This program will help professors of Hong Kong solicit high quality PhD graduates from leading universities on the Mainland, thus promoting academic and scientific exchanges and collaboration between the two places.
