Summary

Integrating the strengths of the academy and industry, this forum series aims to provide the knowledge and the latest development of innovation and technology (I & T) on various industries.  A panel discussion will be held where the application of the results of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)’s research will be presented, while fresh perspectives and market insights from industry on the corresponding technology will also be shared.  With University-Industry collaboration as our main theme, this forum serves as an ideal platform to connect I & T key stakeholders for cultivating I & T talents and making contribution to the development of I & T and advanced manufacturing of the city.

You are cordially invited to the inaugural forum themed “Artificial Intelligence of Things and Intelligent Wearable Systems”, co-organized by The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), CMA Testing, the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR) and the Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship (KTEO) of PolyU.

Date: 12 January 2023 (Thursday)

Time: 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Keynote

Topic 1:    AIoT: Enabling technologies and Applications

by Prof CAO Jiannong

In this talk, Prof Cao will introduce the motivations and vision of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), the enabling technologies which include smart sensors and devices, robotics, big data, edge computing and blockchain. Prof Cao will also share PolyU’s recent research and application development focusing on smart sensing for monitoring the health of large-scale structures; urban resource management for improving productivity, reducing resource waste and progress lagging; and the collaborative edge computing towards distributed intelligence for better scalability, security and privacy.

Topic 2:   Ultrafast, sensitive and portable detection of COVID-19 IgG using flexible biosensors

by Prof YAN Feng

In this forum, Prof Yan will introduce an ultrafast, low cost, label-free and portable SARS-CoV-2 IgG detection platform based on organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), which can be remotely controlled by a mobile phone for the diagnosis and prognosis of COVID-19 and other diseases. To enable a faster detection, voltage pulses are applied on the gate electrode of the OECT to accelerate the combination between the antibody and antigen. By optimizing the ion concentrations and pH values of test solutions, Prof Yan realized specific detections of SARS-CoV-2 IgG within several minutes with a detectable region from 10 fM to 100 nM, which can cover SARS-CoV-2 IgG levels in human serum and saliva.
