Summary

A PolyU academic-led start-up, Grand Rise Technology Limited (“Grand Rise”), has developed a non-toxic and eco-friendly antimicrobial spray coating called CareCoatex™ that kills 99% of common bacteria and viruses. Besides high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, elevator buttons, and medical devices, it can be applied on fabric and clothing items or even used in antiseptic wipes.

Grand Rise was co-founded by Prof. Li Pei, Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology of PolyU, and Mr Tenny Lam, a PolyU doctoral candidate and an industrialist. The company has successfully secured investment from an angel investor, with a matching fund from the PolyU Tech Launchpad Fund (TLF) Scheme in 2020 and 2022. It is among the top 10 start-ups in the Global Pitch Competition 2022, which are competing for investments of up to USD 4 million from Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund.

In this webinar, Prof. Li will share about the research background, findings and applications. They will also talk about their entrepreneurial venture, covering their business model, market opportunities, and product development.
