FAQs for Students with New Programme Registration
  1. Students with new enrolment to PolyU study programmes have to perform NetID registration on their new enrolment in PUsecure Identity Management System (PUsecure-IM) to activate their entitlement for access to central IT facilities and services of the University the next day after they have completed the programme registration procedures and received the student ID card from student administration offices.
  2. On the next day after completing the programme registration procedures and receiving the student ID card from student administration office, you can access the 'NetID Registration' function of PUsecure Identity Portal (IdPortal) to perform NetID registration on your new enrolment. (Click here for the user guide)
Please note that you must accept the 'PolyU Acceptable Use Policy for IT Facilities and Services' and the 'Baseline Information Security Policy' before you can complete the NetID registration process. Therefore, please read the policies carefully as instructed by the facility before proceeding to accept them during the registration process.
  3. Your NetID is pre-defined to be the same as your Student No., but with the last alphabetic character in the lower case. For example, if your Student No. is 03456789D, your NetID would be 03456789d.
Your PolyU E-mail Alias & Display Name and NetPassword must conform to 'PUsecure NetID & E-mail Address Naming Standards' and 'PUsecure NetPassword Rules'.
You don't have to worry because the 'NetID Registration' function of IdPortal will provide sufficient guidance to you during the NetID registration process.
  4. You may refer to the 'PUsecure Role-based Resource Entitlement Matrix' under 'Guide & Policy' for the latest information on the resource entitlement of Student.
The latest information on the central IT facilities and services provided by the University is available in the ITS website at http://www.polyu.edu.hk/its.
  5. The PolyU NetID (Net work ID entity) is your key to the central IT facilities and services. It is your unique personal identifier known by the University's computer systems. You can access the central IT facilities and services with your NetID and the associated NetPassword (Network Password).
  6. After you have completed the NetID registration process, the Learning Management System (LMS) account(s) will be available at 8:00 a.m. on the next calendar day, while the accounts for accessing the other facilities and services will be available within 30 minutes.
  7. The privilege to use the central IT facilities and services carries with it certain responsibilities and obligations, which are set forth in the PolyU Acceptable User Policy (AUP) for IT Facilities and Services (http://www.polyu.edu.hk/its/policies-and-standards/51-policies-and-standards/196-aup) and the Baseline Information Security Policy (https://www2.polyu.edu.hk/itsecurity/gov_isps.html).
