To comply with the legal requirement on protection against disability discrimination and fulfill social responsibility, PolyU makes every effort to adopt accessibility design in website development projects. This year, a total of 13 websites of PolyU won the ‘Silver Award’, ‘Gold Award’ and ‘Triple Gold Award’.
The ‘Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme’ is organized by the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited and co-organized by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, with the Equal Opportunities Commission as independent advisor.
The scheme aims to encourage local companies, non-government/quasi-government organizations to adopt accessible design for their websites and mobile apps to facilitate access to online information and services by all stakeholders of the community including people with disabilities. An award presentation ceremony was held on 14 April 2021 to recognize awardees’ contributions to building an inclusive society with accessible and friendly websites and mobile apps.
