Cheng Mei Na and Ng Chun Kit, two research students from Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, won Merit Awards of PolyU Micro Fund 2012 Innovation Stream under guidance of Prof. Benny Cheung and Dr. Andrew Ip. From an information and communication technology perspective, this project incorporated the ideas of smartphone and location-based services to initiate an interactive geo-social networking platform (eHIP) to attain cultural sustainability.

People use smartphones to tap RFID tags placed on designated sites to obtain access to eHIP for instant aqvisition and sharing of information. The platform provides memory accumulation which visualises collective memory and contributes to time lines. “Tag for our memory, tag for our history, and tag for our next generation is an appropriate slogan for this platform!”
