Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, President of PolyU, was invited to participate in a Presidents’ Forum at The University of Sydney on 25 September 2023. At the Forum, presidents of universities from all over the world engaged in roundtable discussions on university leadership and controversial issues.

President TENG, along with Prof. Christopher CHAO, Vice President (Research and Innovation) and the IPAO team, led by Director Ms Karen JIANG, were excited to join the Times Higher Education (THE) World Academic Summit the next day. The Summit, themed ‘Collaborating for Greatness in a Multidisciplinary World’, brought together over 550 delegates from around 50 countries. They explored the significant role universities can play in driving change within society through regional, national and global collaborations.

During the lunch roundtable discussion, President TENG and Prof. CHAO exchanged insights on how universities can utilise AI to enhance research assessment productivity and quality. They also discussed ways to advance collaboration between universities and industry stakeholders to future-proof assessment methods.

In addition to attending the Summit, President TENG and Prof. CHAO had a meeting with Prof. Vicki CHEN, Provost and Senior Vice-President of the University of Technology of Sydney and Professor Peter HøJ, Vice Chancellor and President of the University of Adelaide.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, President TENG and Prof. CHAO visited PolyU alumni in Sydney and Melbourne, where President TENG shared the latest PolyU developments and achievements, and expressed his gratitude for the Associations’ continued support of the University.
