THE subject rankings reaffirm PolyU’s academic excellence

Five PolyU disciplines were placed in the world’s top 100 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2023, reaffirming the academic excellence of the University.   Among the five PolyU disciplines, Business & Economics was placed 27th globally and continued to have been ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong for two consecutive years, while Engineering took the 40th position globally and was ranked second in the city, rising 11 places from last year’s ranking.

PolyU ranked in global top 100 universities in QS’ new sustainability list

PolyU ranks second in Hong Kong and 82nd globally in the first-ever Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings: Sustainability 2023.   The new sustainability ranking rates over 1,300 tertiary institutions worldwide on how they are taking actions to tackle the world’s environmental, social and governance challenges through research, teaching and community engagement. A total of 700 institutions, including six local universities, are listed.

Influential PolyU scholars recognised in Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers list

PolyU has achieved the third highest number in Hong Kong of the world’s most recognised researchers in this year’s Clarivate Analytics list of "Highly Cited Researchers 2022", underscoring these scholars’ significant research impact.   Twelve PolyU academics (including two former PolyU colleagues) were among a total of 6,938 researchers from 69 countries and regions from a diverse range of research fields.

THE Campus Live UK&IE 2022

On 16 and 17 November 2022, THE Campus Live UK&IE 2022 was held in London. More than one thousand higher education academics and administrators from around the world attended the event and exchanged views on “creating opportunity through education” and “moving beyond the pandemic recovery”. Coordinated by IPAO, Professor WONG Kwok-yin, Vice President (Education) of PolyU delivered a keynote speech on “Improving your institution’s recognition in unknown territories”. Professor Wong shared his insights on how PolyU has strived to improve its institutional recognition in various aspects, including recruitment of talents, establishment of research facilities, initiation of research collaborations, as well as development of effective teaching and learning strategies.

The 8th Pure International Conference, organised by Elsevier, a global leader in information and analytics, was held in Porto, Portugal, on 2 – 3 November 2022.  Mr Charles CHENG, Senior Manager of PolyU Institutional Planning and Analytics Office and global members of the Pure Community, gathered to exchange their experiences using Pure, a global Research Information Management System.

Over 200 PolyU scholars ranked among world’s top 2% most-cited scientists

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has achieved an encouraging milestone of having more than 200 PolyU scholars ranked among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists in the newly released metrics compiled by Stanford University. In addition to having the most top 2% scientists globally in the fields of Building and Construction (13 scientists) and Civil Engineering (16), PolyU has the largest number of top 2% scholars in four other fields in Hong Kong, namely Energy (16), Environmental Sciences (5), Materials (21), and Optoelectronics and Photonics (9).

PolyU reaches new heights in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, ranking 79th globally

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has attained an encouraging result in the newly released Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, ranking 79th in the world, up 12 places from the 2022 rankings, and rising in the rankings for three consecutive years.
