THE Asia Universities Summit and THE Awards Asia 2023

The IPAO team, led by Director Ms Karen JIANG were excited to have participated in the three-day THE Asia Universities Summit held on June 21 - 23. The Summit theme, 'The Future Asian University in 2050', brought together over 500 academic leaders from around the world to share their insights on the reasons behind the rise in representation of Asian universities in the THE World University Rankings over the past five years and to discuss the future of higher education in the new age.

THE Delegation Visit to PolyU

Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, President of PolyU hosted a luncheon for a Times Higher Education (THE) delegation led by Ms Simone DILENA, President of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APAC), THE on 19 June 2023. Prof. Christopher CHAO, Vice President (Research and Innovation) and Institutional Planning and Analytics Office (IPAO) representatives also attended the luncheon.

THE Digital Universities Asia 2023

Through a series of technology-driven forums held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 8 to 10 May 2023, Times Higher Education (THE) Digital Universities Asia convened senior leaders from higher education, research, industry and legislative bodies around the world to share their innovative insights and best practices.  Professor Kwok-yin WONG, Vice President (Education) of PolyU, was invited to participate in the panel discussion titled “Eyes on the horizon: How do we continue to enhance digital learning experiences?”.  Prof. WONG shared his views on how new technological breakthroughs have changed the education environment, strategies PolyU has adopted to enhance blended learning models and considerations to be taken with regard to virtual and in-person teaching.

Customised Qualtrics Hands-on Workshop 2023

Following the introductory Qualtrics training session in 2022, a further customised Qualtrics hands-on workshop was held on 29 March 2023, attended by colleagues involved in implementing institutional surveys. The workshop topics were selected by the major institutional survey hosts through a previously conducted survey. The Qualtrics representative firstly recapped some basic but crucial features highlighted in the previous workshop, and then demonstrated some of the more advanced features regarding survey distribution, as well as data analysis and reporting. Participants appreciated the informative content and engaging delivery of the workshop, and found it useful to their work.

PolyU excels in the Times Higher Education World’s Most International Universities 2023, placing sixth globally

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has attained an encouraging result in the newly releasedTimes Higher Education (THE) World’s Most International Universities 2023, ranking sixth globally. It is the first time for PolyU to be ranked and ranked among the global top 10. PolyU achieved strong results in various assessment areas in the rankings of THE World’s Most International Universities 2023. The performance indicators are based on a university’s proportion of international students, international staff and journal publications involving international co-author as well as its international reputation.

PolyU wins two distinguished awards at the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2022

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) teams received one Gold and one Silver award at Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Reimagine Education 2022, being the only institution in Hong Kong to have won two awards. The winning projects are “Virtual Hospital”, which was developed by Dr Justina Liu, Associate Professor of School of Nursing and Dr Kitty Chan, Senior Teaching Fellow of the same school, and the interactive mobile app “Capstone Ninja’, developed by the English Across the Curriculum (EAC) project team led by Dr Julia Chen, Director of the Educational Development Centre.

Influential PolyU scholars recognised in Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers list

PolyU has achieved the third highest number in Hong Kong of the world’s most recognised researchers in this year’s Clarivate Analytics list of "Highly Cited Researchers 2022", underscoring these scholars’ significant research impact. Twelve PolyU academics (including two former PolyU colleagues) were among a total of 6,938 researchers from 69 countries and regions from a diverse range of research fields.

Qualtrics In-Person Academic Roundtable

A Qualtrics In-Person Academic Roundtable was held on 13 December 2022, with nearly 20 participants from various institutions registering for the event. The Qualtrics representatives introduced the latest features of the survey platform, including video feedback for qualitative research and advanced StatsiQ, as well as some tips and tricks for using the survey platform so as to maximise the survey performance. The participants exchanged their experiences of using the survey platform to facilitate their work and how they conducted offline surveys through the mobile app.   Meanwhile, thanks to the effort and input of the institutional survey hosts, IPAO has recently launched the One-stop Platform for Institutional Surveys. This platform facilitates PolyU staff to search information of previous institutional surveys (incl. survey instruments and key findings) at a centralised location.
