4 March 2009 is the day worth remembering as PolyU signed an agreement with Carelife Healthcare Ltd. and received a strong boost of HK$30 Million to support further research and development of our patented, award-winning “Non-Invasive Blood Glucose Meter”.
The ceremony kicked started with the welcoming address from our President Prof. Timothy Tong and Mr Mun Li, Chairman of CareLife, followed by signing of the collaborative agreement by Mr. Eric Lee (CEO of CareLife) and Dr. Lui Sun-wing (our Vice President (Partnership Development)). We are honoured to have some other distinguished guests, Mr Alexander Tzang (our Deputy President) and the inventor Prof. Joanne Chung from our School of Nursing, to witness the event.
At the end of the event, our Mr Tzang gave a special thank you to our department (PDO) for the continuous efforts in bridging business corporations and academicians. "Seeing the success of this collaboration was the most heartfelt as this was a good representation of PolyU’s motto - 'To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind'", said Mr Tzang.
With the strong financial backup by this collaboration, PolyU researchers can now positively develop the Non-Invasive Blood Glucose Meter to be more compact, advanced and user friendly in the near future.
